Happy International Charity Day!

Today it is International Charity Day and, besides being a charity ourselves, we provide office and workspace to a number of established charities that have offered services to Hackney residents for over 25 years.

Action for Children

Action for Children runs the Hackney Young Carers Project - a support service for children/young people under 18 who look after someone in their family who is ill or disabled. They also run a Befirending Scheme for children in care, called London Independent Visitors.

CARA Society

CARA provides HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support to reduce premature deaths, providing quality basic education for all, water and sanitation and helping the poor to know, understand and achieve their rights.

Family Rights Group

Family Rights Group advise families, whose children are in need, at risk or in care about their rights and options. They also champion policies and practices that keep children safe within their families.

Franklin Scholars

Franklin Scholars want to help every pupil make a strong start in secondary school. To do this, they recruit and train a cohort of Year 10 Franklin Scholars to provide a year-round programme of support to boost, strengthen and stretch Year 7 pupils through their first year.

Latin American Women's Aid (LAWA)

LAWA offer holistic and intersectional services ranging from two emergency refuge homes, advice and support, crèche, English classes, counselling, a Change Maker empowerment program, a housing policy project and children and young people´s services.

Refugee Women's Association

Refugee Womens Association work to empower refugee women and provide a model of good practice, showing a way of overcoming difficulties between different groups and people of different backgrounds. The RWA became Bootstrap tenants in 1995 and have been with us ever since.

Kaleidoscope Trust

Kaleidoscope Trust is a leading human rights NGO, dedicated to advancing the equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people internationally. We work with activists from 50+ countries to influence British and international policy-makers.

Street Doctors

Street Doctors is a charity registered in the UK. They change lives of high risk young people by giving them the skills they need to deliver life-saving first aid. They use first aid as a tool to educate and empower young people, giving them confidence and a sense of responsibility for their actions, helping to change their attitude towards violence.

Invisible Dust

Invisible Dust is an award winning charity and an art and environment organisation working with leading artists and scientists to produce unique and exciting works of contemporary art, and new scientific ideas exploring our environment and climate change. They engage audiences with artists commissions, large scale events, education and community activities and seek to raise awareness of environmental concerns.

Pohwer

Pohwer are a charity that provides information, advocacy and advice services across England, offering direct and local support via Professionals and Volunteers. Their independent, free services reach individuals struggling with particular challenges in their lives.
